Find Out More – Free Report and Video

If you manufacture anything, jewellery, furniture, sheds or even fashion items – anything crafty too, this report will show you how to choose the best ideas and how to sell a lot of what you have made.

What this report is all about

This report is just a guide as to what is needed to get a ton of orders for your business.

When done right, your online properties can bring you in more than enough orders to make running a small business a pleasure.

This report will have a more detailed video attached – or series of videos – I have not decided yet, and will also direct you to a massive amount of free training to get your business running profitably.

Things change all the time

One of the biggest problems with doing things online is that things change very fast.

I can create a series of videos over a two month period and when I am finished the first few videos are already out of date.

Therefore this report is probably going to be 100% accurate up until around July 2018, and if you didn’t see a *revision* note attached, you are going to need to find the link below and come and see what is new on the main blog.

In fact, here is the link – https://thingstomakeandsellfromhome.com

How it could help you

You will see that I cover a very wide range of niches in the training I offer, and even go into a bit of detail here in this report.

However, if you find that you need a bit more information on a specific thing, like a new social media site, or keywords or whatever, there are a few ways of getting help. (Maybe your product is insect-repellent-shoelaces LOL)

  1. Join the Facebook group and ask me there – Click Here
  2. Go to the main blog and watch the video and read the content there.
  3. Contact me via email if you would like to pay for a consultation. Email me
  4. Look through the links I add at the end of this report, sometimes what you are looking for will be there.

Ultimately I hope that between what I tell you here and what you can find on my website will be more than enough to get you to a point where you have a very good understanding of what is needed to get a lot of buyer leads.

methods of getting sales

On the website, in the free training series I will cover each one of these in far more detail, but for now here is a short description of what the main options are.

paid advertising offline

Wow, old-school advertising. this would be things like paid newspaper advertising, magazine advertising, classified advertising (I wonder how many print ones are still alive?) postcards, billboards and more.

There is nothing wrong with this form of advertising, OK, I lie, but it could still work.

The wrong stuff?

  1. It is often not very targeted, but a keyword orientated page on your website could bring you very targeted buyers.
  2. It is very expensive. Most of the time anyway.

Sometimes things like a billboard on those mobile trailers can work very well if you have a local product or event. For example, maybe you run a Night Craft market, then driving one of those mobile billboards around the suburbs for a few nights prior to the market will work well – especially if you light it up like a pinball machine 🙂

paid advertising online

To be honest, this is where most people go to get buyers, and there is nothing wrong with this method of marketing.

BUT there are a few things that you need to set up right before you start to throw money at advertising online.

Things like…

  1. Targeting the right type of person.
  2. targeting them via the best advertising platform (Facebook is very different to Plenty of Fish, or Google, but all work well. Amazon is also starting to become very viable as far as paid advertising goes.
  3. Being very sure that the type of clicks you attract are sent to a landing page or website that is actually going to give them what you advertised about. IE navigation etc.
  4. Keeping it very tight as far as niche’ing down goes. If you try to sell too many varieties of too many ideas on a single page you will lose buyers fast.

Plus if you are lazy you can pay up to 4 times more for your leads.

Follow the training on my blog if you need to keep up with the best methods here.

  Organic marketing – SEO

Sadly this is the one that works the best and needs to most work. However, if you do it right, and try to ignore that initial need for content, you will reap massive rewards for years to come after the first 6 months or year and be very happy that you took the trouble to do your website right.

Free leads after a lot of work are still worth it.

This SEO thing is so important to 99% of businesses and it is normally a lot of work – not hard work, just a lot – but most people are lazy and that is how I earn most of my income. Doing SEO for people.

    Social media marketing

This one is a sneaky shortcut to massive leads in a few circumstances. Jewellery, fashion and more work amazingly well on Pinterest, Instagram and Facebook (when done right) but as many niches do not work in those places.

Follow all my training videos for the best advice here.

I am not going to go into too much detail here on this subject, it is huge and varied, it changes all the time and would need me to make you 150 videos of 30 minutes long to cover everything.

Please go to the blog for the latest info.

Oh, and I realise that sometimes I do not have any answers of a specific social media site yet, so if you need help like that join the Facebook Group and ask me there for some free help.

All these links are at the end of this report.

             Etsy, Amazon, GMB

All of the places that are commonly supported by the handmade or crafting community do work as far as getting people sales.

However, it doesn’t work perfectly for everyone.

Sometimes a listing on Etsy will keep a person busy 100% of the time, and an almost identical listing will sit unnoticed and make hardly any sales at all.

FBA the Amazon platform works the same way – actually it works a bit better because Amazon has a more understandable system to get rankings on their listing results pages.

And then GMB – Google My business, is also a finicky platform. It works like gangbusters most of the time for very local businesses. Like kitchen companies, or patio furniture manufacturers, or Jewellery stores (your home store still counts here)

Each one of these systems will need to be covered at length on the free training. It will be impossible to cover it here without running each section to 100 pages.

I suggest that you have a core self-hosted website first, and then add your satellite selling systems as a second tier selling platform.

             Other networking, affiliate etc

In time I will seek out alternate methods of generating sales for your business and turn each one into a free training video on the website.

but let me run over a few obvious ones for now.

Wholesale – where you sell to stores and other places and they mark it up and sell for you.

Agents – Here you appoint people who basically work on some sort of agree upon commission system and they sell for you in a nearby town. They will do party plans, or craft markets etc to get their sales. Franchising is a similar concept.

Affiliates – Here you add the “Affiliate” offer on your website and allow others to sell from their websites, or on their social media etc, and they earn a commission. This will need to be more than 4% and preferably as high as 20%. That way other will have a decent incentive to go out there and market your products for an affiliate commission.

Corporate gifts – Contact the people who are forever seeking decent gifts to offer their clients

Trade shows – This would be similar to your craft markets, but sometimes trade shows specialise in their visitor types and can work very well.

Networked deals – With this method, there are many ways of making it work, and most will come with issues but can work out very well over time. You find a similarly sized business to yours in another city. Better still you find 20 in 20 different cities.

Then you set up a large home showroom – or one in a mall – and sell their products for a commission or on consignment. They then do the same for you. I will cover all the good parts and the pitfalls in a full video sooner or later and put it on the website.

The types of business this training will help the most.

  • Crafting in general – Etsy things, paper crafting etc.
  • Jewellery
  • Woodworking
  • Fashion
  • Accessories
  • Niche targeting – Like anniversaries or weddings

The best system to set up is this…

This will be covered in a bit more detail in the video that comes with this report, and will obviously be covered in massive detail in all the free training videos on the website.

  • Research of your items and niche for profitability and demand.
  • Research of your targeted keywords
  • Initial product creation
  • Testing that product on markets etc.
  • Make  Stock
  • Website
  •             domain
  •             hosting
  •             WordPress
  •             Theme
  •             basic and plug-ins
  •             Core Pages
  •             Silo structure
  •             content
  • Social media – Like Pinterest
  • Web 2.0 properties – Like Wix and Blogger

Items of importance and links you might need

  1. The Free “How to sell more products” training series

As of right now, when I am writing this report, there have only been 6 videos but there will be well over 30 in time.

The videos are on the YouTube channel, on a few of the Facebook groups, but the safest place to find them all is on the main website page – see it here-  https://thingstomakeandsellfromhome.com/training-on-the-marketing-of-a-craft-business/

  1. Freebies

Get a few freebies here. They are a mixed lot, and I literally have 1000 or more products that I could offer you, so if you have a subject that you think I have a course on, ask me on the Facebook group and I will see if I can find something to add.

I have it set up to either share socially or to do a small treasure hunt.

see them here  – https://thingstomakeandsellfromhome.com/treasure-hunt-for-freebies/

  1. Free help from me.

This is only done on the Facebook group.

If you join and stick to the rules, IE not posting your stuff to sell, but asking for help from myself and others, then you could get free advice from me there.

https://www.facebook.com/groups/1059188500824036/

  1. Paid help from me.

This will be severely limited. In fact most of the time I will not be able to do one-on-one help, but you are welcome to ask me (just in case)

email me here  – mailto:rob@designsmith.co.za

  1. Free premium website

This is a brilliant offer and is really a premium 6 or 7-page website built for you with a few evil strings attached.

The value of this offer is around $300.00 and is free as long as you use my affiliate link to get your hosting package. (you need hosting for any decent website anyway)

I have about 40 pre-done premium Elegant themes Divi WordPress websites set up for you to choose from.

You get training, you get all the plug-in’s etc.

It comes with a few rules.

See the jewellery option here – https://designsmith.co.za/jewelry/how-to-get-your-own-free-version-of-this-website/

  1. YOUR website featured as a case study.

This is LIMITED TO ONE A MONTH only.

One person – who needs a website with all the bells and whistles – IE decent setup, self-hosted, silo structures, plugin’s, etc. can get a 50% discount on their website package if they allow their site to be featured in detail as a case study.

This includes a high level of mentoring from my part on your marketing needs online.

This would be a $3000.00 website and SEO package for $1500.00.

For that 50% off, you have to agree to have your work, and your website featured in my training series as proof that when done right, your website will rank for buyer keywords.

This option will have a strict vetting process, as I need you to be sure that you are going to deliver the written content and the images etc that I need on time.

I reserve the right to not allocate this offer if I feel that the match between myself and the person who asks for the option, is not right.

  1. Full SEO work and websites.

I am still doing website designs for clients and will be focussing on the crafting niche.

This is also a very limited offer and I will not be taking on a lot of clients.

In fact, I am going to try to limit the website or SEO work to a monetary limit of $ 3000 a month. Time will tell as to how that turns out for me.

Any more than that cuts deeply into my R&R time 🙂

  1. The crafting blog is going to be getting a lot of my attention.

If you would like to do guest posts on the crafting sites, email me and ask.

If you feel you are qualified enough to be my appointed section expert, like the paper crafting expert, or the crochet expert etc, email me.

This “expert” offer will come with a few benefits, you get backlinks to your own web properties.

You will get added exposure as an expert in your chosen craft.

BTW, this could be a Facebook expert, or a LinkedIn expert too.

I would expect at least one decent page a week on your chosen expertise.

Right!

Thank you for reading all this.

I really do care about your aspirations in your business, and love helping people sell more stuff.

Please watch the attached video if you would like to hear all this is a long drawn out, detailed, joke-filled version.
